Longs Drugs Challenge Boasts Strongest Field Ever Final Field Includes 19 of Top 20 on LPGA Money List

DANVILLE, Calif. – The Longs Drugs Challenge today announced the final field list for the 2007 tournament. This year marks the strongest field in tournament history as 19 of the Top 20 players on the Official LPGA Money List will compete, including the entire Top Ten. It surpasses last year’s high mark of 18 of the Top 20 playing from the money list.

Highlighting the field is the #1-ranked women’s golfer in the world and this year’s leading money winner, Lorena Ochoa. The field also features several players with local ties, including Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis, Christina Kim, Pat Hurst, and Hall of Famer Juli Inkster.

The entire Top Ten in the LPGA Player of the Year race will compete, as well as 11 of 12 members from the victorious U.S. Solheim Cup team, Nicole Castrale, Creamer, Laura Diaz, Gulbis, Hurst, Inkster, Cristie Kerr, Brittany Lincicome, Stacy Prammanasudh, Morgan Pressel and Angela Stanford.

“We are extremely excited to have this caliber of competition playing at the Longs Drugs Challenge,” said Tournament Director Brian Flajole. “In the tournament’s eleven-year history, this is only the second time we have had the entire Top Ten from the Money List in the field, and it is two years running. This is a testament to the great relationship between the tournament, our title sponsor Longs Drugs, Blackhawk Country Club and the East Bay Area. Everyone has worked extremely hard to promote this level of golf excellence for the players, volunteers and fans.”

One of the favorite stops of the players on the LPGA Tour, the 2007 Longs Drugs Challenge will take place at Blackhawk Country Club in Danville, California the week of October 4-7. The picturesque course will be the backdrop as 108 players take aim at a purse of $1.1 million over the four-round event. This is the second year the event has been held in the Bay-Area.

The event boasts a prestigious list of winners including defending champion Karrie Webb, San Jose’s Christina Kim, winner in 2004, two-time champion and LPGA Hall of Famers Juli Inkster, winner in 1999 and 2000, and Se Ri Pak, winner in 2001.
