Longs Drugs Challenge Sponsor Exemptions Given to Vickie Goetze-Ackerman and Stephanie Louden
Big Break’s Briana Vega will compete at Sectional Q-School

Danville, Calif. –The Longs Drugs Challenge has announced the sponsor exemptions for this year’s tournament. LPGA professionals Vicki Goetze-Ackerman and Stephanie Louden will compete in the field of 108 for the 2007 Longs Drugs Challenge.

Goetze-Ackerman, a 14-year veteran on the LPGA Tour, has earned over $1.5 million in her career. She finished sixth in the 2007 Fields Open. She was elected to the LPGA Player Executive Committee for the 2005-07 seasons, and is currently serving as president this year.

Louden is a 2001 graduate of Stanford, where she earned All-American honors four times. She is a six-year LPGA Tour veteran and was elected to the LPGA
Player Executive Committee for the 2006-2008 seasons.

Briana Vega, who originally won a sponsor exemption into the Longs Drugs Challenge with her victory in The Golf Channel’s Big Break 6, has elected to take part in the LPGA Tour’s Sectional Q-School in Florida next week. She will be attempting to earn a spot in the LPGA Qualifying school later this year.

"We wish Bri the best of luck as she competes to gain a spot in the LPGA Q school", said Tournament Director Brian Flajole. "I know she was disappointed not to be able to play at this year's tournament, but we fully understand her long term goal which is to play full time on the LPGA tour."

One of the favorite stops of the players on the LPGA Tour, the 2007 Longs Drugs Challenge will take place at Blackhawk Country Club in Danville, California the week of October 4-7. The picturesque course will be the backdrop as 108 players take aim at a purse of $1.1 million over the four-round event. This is the second year the event has been held in the Bay-Area.

The event boasts a prestigious list of winners including defending champion Karrie Webb, San Jose’s Christina Kim, winner in 2004, two-time champion and LPGA Hall of Famers Juli Inkster, winner in 1999 and 2000, and Se Ri Pak, winner in 2001.
